Just told my dad I’m excited for series 4 because they’re gonna make it canon. He asks ‘what are they gonna make canon?’ so i replied the romance story of john and sherlock that they’ve been telling the whole time. He said ‘don’t be stupid’ and i’m just like see you after series 4 has all aired.

So, I just realized something. Notice how in the first 3 pictures Sherlock’s got is coat and scarf whilst John has his jacket. Now look at s4 picture. I really don’t know how to explain any symbolism but there is something there that might need to be discovered.

They are both emotionally vulnerable. Their coats seem to represent armor and now they are without. It’s about to get real in Series 4!

I’m still doing a double take every time I see Sherlock. Where the hell is his coat? That was so quintessentially Sherlock in this adaptation.

The coat(s) is worn out. There are no more. They are preparing us for its departure (my guess is that it will be destroyed in s4 somehow)(and, we can only hope, taking Mycroft’s hell tie with it) in a practical sense just as it, yes, is a visible indicator of Sherlock’s character growth.

It’s almost like they’re throwing off their stereotyped personas to get at the truth underneath or something

Almost like.. they’re shedding their armour to go into this battle.

Almost like… their outfits have represented something in the subtext this whole time… something to do with how people perceive them and how they shield themselves away…

Almost like… they’re finally able to be themselves…

ok so you know how we’re all like…constantly laughing about the end of asib when sherlock goes “i imagine john watson thinks love is a mystery to me…” like ok sherlock NO ONE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT JOHN BUT OK well what if the reason he brings him up is because he thinks (hopes) john has followed him there the same way he followed john earlier and witnessed john not contradict irene when irene said john was in love with sherlock WHAT IF SHERLOCK WAS TRYING TO TELL JOHN HE KNOWS WHAT’S UP HE’S JUST SO SCARED OF LOSING HIM WHAT IF THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT JUST FUCK ME UP
