I love how louis challenges the rhetoric of meritocracy. He’s not pretending he got where he is because he worked hard, and he even feels guilty (consciously irrationally) for having gotten where he is while others, maybe as talented and as hard working as him, work hard to be able to afford a ‘simple’ trip to Disneyland. It speaks for his impostor syndrome and his self consciousness, but also for his acknowledgment of class inequality. Many celebrities promote the rhetoric of success, the idea that if you work hard enough and dream hard enough you’ll get what you deserve, this false notion only leads to the erasure of class struggles. Louis’ honesty in regards to this issue shouldn’t be brushed off.

What is your most embarrassing thing that has happened to you at school?

#HARRYS HANDS WERE SO MUCH BIGGER THAN HIS THEN TOO#i wonder if they would lay in bed at night and compare hand sizes#and they would talk about how one day harry might be taller than louis#and louis would get all blushy at the thought of being the smaller one#and harry would get all smug like “one day i’m going to be bigger than you”#and he would be playing with louis’ fingers and tracing over his palm#and louis would come back with something snarky like “well i’ll always be older and smarter”#and harry would just giggle and kiss him quiet#never letting go of his hand#do you think they still compare hand sizes#and harry will curl the tops of his fingers down over louis’ when they’re pressed palm to palm#before linking their fingers together#and louis will just look up at him and smile so softly#“still older than you love” (bananastagram)
