Anakin would have LOVED Poe and is so proud of Leia’s new son
Best star-pilots in the galaxy
Call their droids “BUDDY”
Sometimes too heroic for their own good
“General Grievous. You’re shorter than I expected.” vs. “So who talks first? I talk first? You talk first? and “Hi I’m holding for General Hugs”
Romantic natures: Poe wears his mom’s wedding ring on a chain and is “waiting to share it someday with the right partner.” The ROTS novelization mentions that Anakin and Padme exchanged C-3PO and R2-D2 as wedding gifts which combines DROIDS AND ROMANCE, two of Poe’s favorite things.
Kyle is laboriously trying to emulate all the shit Anakin wishes he had never done; Poe is naturally doing all the stuff he wishes he’d done much more of and doing it with PANACHE.
Noah fence to those who like Daredevil, but Charlie Cox’s best performance is unquestionably in Stardust, where he plays Tristan Thorn, a hapless, oblivious doof who gets his ass kicked by nearly everyone he meets, falls in love with a star, and has his wig styled on screen by gay sky pirate Robert De Niro.
So this weekend I found myself chatting with an established
comic writer, he asked me about my interest in the matter and I told him I ran
a webcomic but before he could even respond I qualified it with;
“Well it’s a fan comic, I’m not a real comic
creator.” He was appalled.
“What do you mean you’re not a real comic creator?” He demanded. “Do you have a
comic?”
“Well yeah but its a fan comic its not a real-” He
literally put his hand on my shoulder to stop me.
“You have a comic. You made a comic. You’re putting in
the work. You’re a real comic creator.” He told me about how one of the
people he works with on a comic started by writing Mass Effect fanfiction even.
I’ve been thinking about that ever since.
I’ve thought about how many times I’ve heard myself and
other say things like, “Oh, I’m a writer but I write fanfiction not like
real writing.” And thats so bullshit, he was right.
If you write you’re a
writer, end of story.
I’ve been thinking about this again lately, I’m not always happy with my work but I’ve put hundreds of hours into the comic and that’s not something a lot of people can claim.
“If you write you’re a writer.”
Never ever sell yourself short if your primary creative outlet is fanwork. Its how SO MANY people get started and its a great way to learn and practice! Also there is WORK writing for pre-established canon, being able to create within an already-created universe is a SKILL SET not something you should ever feel ashamed by!
