there’s nothing more tender, loving, or indicative of extreme respect and care than holding oneself back for the sake of someone else, there’s nothing that shows devotion more than the willingness to suffer against desire for the sake of someone else. that’s why gay love, which is mired in learned repression, in the fear that expressing our affection may harm our lovers or may not be reciprocated, in holding back even when alone, is so much more profound than heterosexual love. it’s why our stories in text and on screen are so much more honest and open, and why films that are about repression between straight people are so often revered by lgbt people and read as gay.

If you’re in the UK (honestly, if you’re from anywhere) and you’re an ally to trans people, we need you to respond to this consultation on the rights of trans people in the UK.

We are a small minority and the consultation is being deliberately flooded by transmisogynists and if it is only trans people responding in favour of our rights being upheld and changed for the better, our voices will be drowned out.

Take your internet opinions and direct them without censorship at the consultation, please.  You’re anti-terf?  Great, time to act on that in a way that actually affects people’s lives right now and in the future.  Thank you!

It doesn’t take long to fill this in, and there are nice read-mores of explanation to help you if you’re stuck. Please take your opinions on trans rights – and I know you have them – and pipe them into somewhere where they can have actual, positive effects on our lived and rights, rather than just circularly on the internet tantrum hole. Tell your mates.

The language that nonbinary people use for ourselves is intensely personal.

Some of us may choose to retain connections to binary language, such as pronouns and terminology, while others might forego their use entirely. The nonbinary experience is as innumerably variable as there are nonbinary people out there, and the idea that there is no one right way to be nonbinary rings nothing but true.
